anna wintour hair then and now

...anna wintour circa 1970's...

Anna Wintour, the editor of the American fashion magazine Vogue is a recognizable person all over the world, with her trademark bob and bangs haircut, which I always assumed was a wig (well it could still be a wig) due to its unnatural thickness. The other day I ran across this photo of Anna from the 1970's and I am more than ever unsure about if she wears a wig. This photo kind of suggests otherwise as it displays her hair being rather think and she already wears her trademark bangs, back then. If it were trimmed at the ends to chin level, it would be the Anna Wintour hair of 2011!

Well, I guess who cares if it's a wig or not, the style works for her and she knows it!

cutest lil wayne skirt

Awww! It's the cutest thing I've seen in a while - The Lil' Wayne skirt! So cute. I had a constant chuckle going on while making this skirt and even before listing it for sale in the online shop I had to forward it to several of my friends, because I could no longer wait to share this adorable piece! Here's a preview for you:

valentine's a la nyc

...here is my whole raw heart...

Leave it to New York City's club kids to come up with the most unusual Valentine's imagery! Although the club kid days are long gone, Patricia Fields still manages to revive them every year for a night and fill a ball room with drag queens and women in lingerie!

Swiss native nightlife impresario Susan Bartsch was present.

Even if it was only for one night, club kids left their mark this Valentine's day. Happy Valentine's day!

of sid and nancy and piggy on the blanket

I love discovering things and the internet is a fabulous place to do so!

I am sure you are familiar with Etsy treasuries, right? The collection of items within a titled theme. My items are frequently added to treasuries (thanks a lot!), I even featured some here on the blog in the past. The newest treasury is called Love Kills and my Sex Pistols skirt is featured. It's a great collection period, but one item stood out immediately: The Sid and Nancy crochet puppets - Dope! Including studded belt and fishnet stockings! 95 bucks and they both (plus the knife) are yours to keep...

So that very crafty crochet lady from the slightly darker side goes by the name of Shove and her Etsy shop is called Croshame.

Gotta love the craft but I also admire the messages she's communicating. For example what about this burger?

...labeled 'very rare indeed', this cow burger rocks!

For 70 bucks you get the bun, the cow, the lettuce, the tomato and cheese! Go figure.

...unassembled cow burger...

And last but not least, here is the piggy on the blanket. I'd love to have this place setting for everyone of my guests when they come to my house for dinner.

Shove keeps engaging us with a macabre lamb chop and, and, and... I hope you enjoy! And for those that - like me - can't get enough, visit Shove's blog Doomed To Live, which she manages with her partner in crime Chuck. You'll see behind the scenes of 2 creatives. I would have loved to be invited to their Ginger X-Mas Bash for example!

craving spring

Aawwh! Come on, this is simply too much snow!

Of course I remember a many harsh winters in New York City, but what we are recently enduring is out of this world. Since weeks things have been buried under ice and I was not surprised to see this "sculpture" the other day. It says: " This is simply too much snow!"

We are trapped! We are going under! Shovels are all sold out (Already went through our 4th this season, none of them surviving more than a day or 2 of ice action. China - your manufacturing may be on point for many things, but stop making snow shovels, they are not sturdy enough for this weather) and they do no longer carry my size winter boots anywhere, I checked.

Well, well, it's mother nature, so we've got to hang in there I guess... by now, I really crave Spring.

about me

My Photo
New York, NY, United States
Yes, I'm full of myself, but I became an instant celebrity after showing my first collection in a fashion show in Zürich, 1995. It was covered by the Swiss National evening news. The Swiss press calls me "The Most Important Invention After Color TV!" This exposure lead to countless endorsements with companies such as Bernina (Sewing Machines), Philip Morris, etc. I was a judge at the Miss Switzerland 1998 competition and was chosen to design the clothing concept for the Swiss National EXPO' 02. Celebrities such as Gwen Stefani and Kelly Osbourne wear my fashion. In NYC, I gained recognition from the largest publications including WWD, Vogue, The Village Voice who called my label "The Best Name Of The Day" after Fashion Week and the New York Times declared: "IDILVICE's collection had the combination of elements that make a fashion audience sit up and take notice". Does it get better? Only The New Yorker article, which named IDILVICE one of the few lines besides Oscar De La Renta and Anna Sui to still be produced in the USA, may top that. Besides being a finalist in the Gen Art Styles 2000 and 2001 show, I have designed a couture collection for Elvis Presley Enterprises in Memphis.
