40 minutes to hamptons

Looking for a better way to get to the Hamptons?

Not a supermodel?

If you got $495 to spare do as lovely Adriana Lima, who was boarding a V1 Jet Seaplane to Long Island for an autograph signing... intriguing! V1 Jets are known for flying passengers on the “dead legs,” or the unused trips back to their original departure point. Their newest offering, V1 Jets Seaplane, caters to the Hamptons set - making travel to East Hampton a breeze. You, along with seven passengers, depart from the Seaplane Port at 23rd Street and the F.D.R. Drive. Buckle up and in you’re in for an exhilarating forty-minute commute that lands in East Hampton Airport.

Again, all for a mere $495 EACH WAY…

Adriana Lima not included.

To plan your getaway to the Hamptons, Montauk, or Martha’s Vineyard (my favorite!) by seaplane, visit jetcharter.

Remember, there is the energy efficient, public transportation option of the Long Island Railroad for the one's not in a rush. You can bring your bike along for some real time beach exploring!

pretty feminine men

Hey! Guys keep telling me to make men's clothes...
I only do it occasionally for a dude or two and my dad of course, who deserves a good men's piece of idil vice any day. Other than that, I just don't think for men really and I always thought I'd make a men look gay anyway, and unless one IS gay, that would not be appreciated...

Hey, hey, but as of late there is a lot of gender bending happening and I might design a couple of things for mister.

Tons of feminine men's wear is to be found everywhere, just look around. I really liked this ruffled cowgirl/boy blouse from the Fall/Winter '08 collection of French designer Alexis Mabille. Pretty feminine!

helmut lang sweets

helmut lang installation detail, 2008

How do YOU manage this?
My post ideas folder is getting thicker and fuller... (I do have a very busy and challenging fashion business to run :O) ... to prevent it from bursting, I must get rid of some of them, risking to reveal the immense delay... but better late than never, hey? (I do have a very busy and challenging fashion business to run)!!

This one's fabulous! Helmut Lang's (a most prominent, influential cultural figure of our time) first institutional solo exhibition "Alles Gleich Schwer" August 31st through November 2nd, 2008 in Hannover, Germany.

"The continuity is that I'm expressing what's important to me with the appropriate form, content and context through different mediums and other dimensions." HL

I love this installation! Ever since I laid eyes on it, I have not been able to forget it. It reminds me of really good and tasty sweets with lots of dark chocolate, caramel ganache and nuts and peanut butter... :D

Servus Helmut! We loved you as a fashion designer/artist and we love you as an artist without so much fashion (although isn't this fabric??)

I am envious that you have the opportunity to explore this, Helmut. That is what life in it's most perfect form is about, right? Explore what interests you and freely move around and try different things, if this is what you care about... right? I envy you.

seasons best sellers

Analytics, analytics, analytics!

I have been talking about this handy tool called analytics before: it better be an important keyword in the brain of any e-commerce business owner. Google it! It can spotlight many issues as well as well functioning details on your website, but without going into details - and risking boredom among us fashionistas - here are the worldwide best sellers on idilvicefashionrocks.com, easily pinpointed, thanks to analytics:

The Godzilla Rising Sun, All Over Printed Strapless Cotton Beach Dress! The absolute best seller this season and for good reasons: It's really easy to wear and just so fresh looking! Missed to buy it? Buy it now!

Then, the runner up best seller: The DJ T-Shirt. Well yeah, it rocks! A simple Technics ear phone print around the neckline of this T-shirt did it for many of you, my beloved fashion rocks customers! Are you one of them who missed to buy it? Buy it now!

Last, but of course not least, my favorite: Punk Icon Ian Curtis of Joy Division portrait print on a 100% cotton strapless dress. This dress did so well that I have already designed a version for the Fall Winter 2008 season, an equally comfortable bat sleeve sweater dress... check it out below... wanna be the proud owner of this cool strapless Summer version? Buy it here!

Wanna be ahead of the game? Go this way!

... and come back often ;-)

positive feedback

Anyone who has an online shop, ebay account or generally does business online, knows how important it is to get positive feedback! It's one of the most important factors to determine if a buyer is going to make that purchase.

I have been blessed, with positive feedback that is... knock on wood now, because, as a seller, you are always walking on eggs here. You never know if you hit a buyers bad day and it's important to always remind myself when that dreadful day arrives, to be nice, you know. Ever heard of bad karma? Not that I am a firm believer in it, but when I think about and after doing online business for about 4 years now, it speaks some crumb of truth.

Online business gives you opportunities every day to spread good karma around the world. Really, there has not been a situation that could not be resolved by being a bit humble, to have good intentions, everyone responds to that in a good way.

Now, of course I had to learn that. Become wise. Initially it was a rocky road.

At idilvicefashionrocks.com I have not yet set up a feedback page... but my Ebay and Etsy feedback is 100% positive and reading the comments, I should be the happiest person alive!

It's cool when people dig your craft and I love to hear about it.

It persuades me to be courteous, keep up the best quality, respond in a timely manner in a good manner and ship as soon as possible. It's a good thing, this feedback thing.

Here is one of my most recent feedbacks (check out the strong language in it), which came from an ebay user who never even bought anything from me, so far, I hope ;-)

time to move to beijing?

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games 2008 in China definitely makes one think about moving on out of the increasingly frustrating and difficult life in the US and trade it for a modern, hopeful future such as the one portrayed in China tonight! A true sign of the time, I think. But this needs to be thought over first.

I always knew that in China it's not about "me!", "me!", "me!" - unlike here in the US - in China it's about the whole of the people all together as one.

To the outside world this is primarily shown on the occasion of those scary looking Chinese military shows (makes one think there is definitely no chance anyone could win against these guys, they would just simply stomp you to the ground). But frankly, who would have thought that they can mobilize many thousands at a time, to an absolutely synchronized performance, such as this lengthy ceremony? WOW! Impressive, and frankly, I don't think any other country could have topped that at this point in time, or ever.

So this evening, we have seen a good face of China. I was thinking about boycotting these games because I recently saw the PBS documentary about the man who stood against tanks on Tiananmen Square, in the Spring of 1989 when the demonstration of the individual against the State took place. The famous, infamous square was by the way closed down tonight.

Anyway, when I saw the striking graphic images on the TV screen, I could no longer look away and the show took me in....

about IDILVICE

My photo
New York, NY, United States
Just like the rare Swiss mountain flower Edelweiss - a symbol of prestige and distinction - the clothing brand IDILVICE (pronouced "Edel-vice") was born in the mountains of Switzerland and since then it's flourishing on the concrete of Manhattan and recently even in the rolling hills of the San Francisco Bay Area. However as the spelling indicates, the label is not meant to be associated with too much folkloric alpine tradition, but rather and probably in the contrary, with unconventionality. The IDILVICE label was founded in 1995 by Swiss Native fashion designer Idil from the city of Saint Gallen, Switzerland, who's foundation dates back to the 7th Century and which became famous for their quality textile products, especially embroidery textiles, which are still popular with Parisian Haute Couture designers today. In search for something less traditional, Master Graphic Designer Idil ventured out to New York City where she fell in love with American Pop Culture.
