holiday feeling

It's no secret, we are reminded every day that it's that time of year again where the x-mas holiday celebrations are upon us and I must say I am feeling cozy and festive these days, especially since they are forecasting a few days of snow storms... Ahhh! There we go - I love Winter! So during times like these I like to come up with some garments and accessories that are making me feel... well, exactly that: cozy and festive!

Have a look at this evening pouch I just made...



It's a One-Of-A-Kind. The screen print depicts a woman in 1920's attire posing with a leopard. I found a very small batch of prints of different 1920's images, so there will be a couple of similar bags, but each and every one will be a different picture and they'll vary in sizes too. The color theme here is black, white, gray, rusty orange (dress), copper (glass beads), pearl gray (glass beads) and antique silver (chain).



It's kind of thought to accent an evening dress with some eclectic sparkle... it really works with any black dress. I even see an elegant pair of pants - wide leg, satin and a blouse or an evening top with some more beading accents perhaps? Crushed velvet in a jacket or coat, might be a good choice... anyhow, I just wanted to get in the mood a bit...



Of course, it's handmade. And it features an array of tiny little details which make this handbag so fabulous!

It's fully lined with a black on black patterned silk charmeuse and I added padding to give it a nice soft thickness. An inner small pocket comes in handy and the cotton crushed velvet backside brings that certain cozy vintage vibe and richness with it's texture. The silver gray and copper glass beaded fringe and a slippery snake chain strap add sparkle and last but certainly not least a smooth riri zipper for quick and easy access!




Yes, just simply a great piece to compliment and finish an evening look for years to come! Own this One Of A Kind...

Yes, sure I also make bags... Believe it or not, I get a lot of ideas from my customers. Many of them start by asking me if I could make this or that for them... the buyer of this specific bag had already bought a few of my items from my online shop and is a huge Grateful Dead fan - she desperately was looking to get a bag made from the same material.




I love making custom things for my clients and will make time, if it seems worth while. Depending on the project they can cost a ton of money though, because they require me to run around town for one piece of ware, but it's always worth it and it inspires me to do more and more... Dear valued customers: Keep it coming, please!




The bag has a life inside as well. Gold leather zipper pulls, a bear charm and matching striped lining...



Looking a bit mean for no reason, posing with my (sadly not mine anymore, it's shipping out tomorrow morning) bag, I guess I was contemplating the cold and the fence and the chain..??

Y'all know about my collection "Fashion Rocks" which features our all-time favorite icons in music and pop culture. When I walk around the city, I am constantly stopped by random people who point out that they know this brand... it's exiting - to tell you the truth - exhilarating, when people recognize my stuff (when I see them wearing it, it's a bit weird, 'cause they hardly ever wear it the way I would). So yes, while I have been aware that I'm inspiring to other people, I am inspired back when I see my influence all around town...


..this girl was rockin' Sid Viscious on a bag and wore punk type style clothing, btw saw this on pier 66 in this really cool hippie-ish restaurant/bar called "Frying Pan" on the West Side highway (looks more like a place in Berkeley, California ((most politically liberal city in the US)), if you know what I mean), snack on some burger or beef chili and enjoy the sunset after your stroll through the gallery dirstict...

Hey - hopefully you are having a wonderful Summer so far :-)
I am just setting my mind to what's going to be in the shops this Fall and wanted to give a bit of a heads up of what's coming... it's hard, because I am also working on Spring Summer '09 and keeping track of late productions of this Fall's stuff - sounds crazy? Well, IT IS! - which should be available late August, beginning of September, is close to nuts! But, I've been here before and I should know what it takes, which gives me hope.

O.K. so, I have been talking to you previously about how I get all focused on collecting things that strike me at one time or another. You can't acquire everything - you don't want to be called a hoarder or a person out of touch, someone that is ignorant about the fact that one day he has got to depart this wonderful earth and therefore should be mindful not leave a whole lotta crap behind for the family to clean up and dispose of! The excuse that you are stacking up, invest in your family's future and that they will sell this stuff for 100 x more than what you've paid for, is poor...
So there is very little, only specific storing to be done and I suggest it be temporary too. By this I mean that, at one point, one should take the leap into the ice cold water and use the collection for something meaningful... there are many ways to do that and - yeap - it depends what your line consist of, dummsy!

Do not pave your front yard with your old 45's and see them crashed within a couple of days and it has not served any purpose and it was not even fun! Nooo! And don't just sell off your carefully selected porcelaine groupings of salt and pepper shakers that one faithful day when you decided to have a garage sale!! ----- No!

Do something useful with your lines and save yourself from the harsh reality that this long and careful accumulation process did not serve any purpose except that you felt compelled and maybe insired by it, o.k. I admit, there is such a thing. But still, I stress that it would be more resourceful to write a book about your gatherings of original Punk history. Make it serve the next generations for many years to come or have an exhibition of your postcard line together with your fellow collectors... wouldn't that be a swell event for the general public? Once that's done you can happily get rid of it all! Free-your-self.

Don't just sit on your special stuff in your dark chambers where no light will ever hit it. Put it in the spotlight, for X-sake!

Heeeyy! Yes, and so I will tell you what I've been doing with my beloved embroidered patch collection (there are other collections I will come up with a way to ge rid of in a cool way :-O, so we will talk later).

Indeed, I have been a very enthusiastic patch collector and trader (my absolute favorite are the girls scout and boy scout patches) for years now and you'd want to know some of these, they are great!


They will be put on a limited edition of garments and sold starting this Fall. All will be one of a kinds due to the various one of a kind patches, yes, so see I found a way to use my collection in a nice way as I share it with the world again!



... as you see, I like to mix new with old, rare with generic, again, just like with the prints I use on clothing, I care about the graphics, colors shapes and context in the big picture.

mine are prescription glasses

I am clueless how, out of the blue, there is a whole new generation of near sighted individuals, in NYC at least. And they do favor the old movie star 1950's type bold frame my dad was wearing until around after the time I was born. But do they all contain prescription lenses like mine? As I dared to mention there may be a new generation perhaps...? We should check the water supply from Upstate New York....

So yes, I have been wearing glasses since I can remember, really. Styles offered at the shops change with the seasons and trends. From the perspective of a fashion designer glasses can be a welcomed style element, permitted they are in fashion at the time, or they can pose a challenge when they are not necessarily. Well right now you better be nearsighted or you've got to fake it!

When the 80's come back, outrageous glasses are not far and so when the trend started a few years back, I think Kanye West brought that frame back to the masses. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. But Kanye ALMOST gets away with it. Emphasis on the ALMOST.

But guys! It does NOT mean YOU should WEAR them on the street!! Yes they come in all shades of color but they do look ridiculous and they do not protect you from any harmful rays.... so let's stop this already!



Go to a great glasses shop like Selima Optique NY, who has several shops across town and features really cool one of a kinds and vintage frames that are really the thing to be wearing during this trend of larger frames, which I think IS cool.

So I just wanted to share my opinion and my new frames, which I will still be changing up with all my other frames, depending on what I will be wearing any given day.
And lucky me: I never threw away my dad's old original frame he was wearing in the 50's, (never get rid of quality frames!!!) so I am right on target with these too!

I am checking in, despite no time to spare. I've been busy filling orders - I thought our economy was slugging!! Not for me - knock on wood - I am busy as ever filling orders for my various clients from all over the world... great!!

I wanted to fill everyone in on that Marc Jacobs has paid the scarf designer who's scarf design he stole...

I also had a dream where me and Marc were chilling and actually got along real well... I can't remember the details or at least I do not want to reveal... it's all good though..we all got to make a living....it must be hate love.

I just saw a show on Jimi Hendrix live in Monterey.... you all know: he is one of my absolute biggest heroes!!! I L.O.V.E. him!

And watching him playing guitar on the back of his head (must have sounded reeeeaaall good) and working those strings with his teeth... grinding his hips at the amplifier(!!), finally burning the instrument with lighter fluid... and looking at the shocked faces in the audience (cannot imagine that today - no one would really give a sh**) but then at that specific time, it just made it clear to me that, yes, my heroes are real and they do matter a lot!

I L.O.V.E. Jimi! He is the epitome of revolution and he is sadly gone too soon! I am not prouder of any other item more than my jimi hoodie and dress. They soooo rock! And I'll wear them forever.

I love to be able t to pay tribute to someone like this and will NOT stop. I know you all out there love it too and please don't make me feel guilty for making a bit of money with this but I work hard for it and I think it is necessary - quiet frankly I can't believe that I am the only one doing it!!!! What is wrong with all the people??? Anyway, I believe we make history.
