Zen Fashion Summer 2014

How's your Summer been so far?

I am loving the warm sunshine on my winter prone pale skin. In terms of style, I've been really choosy... maybe not in the way you think. I am talking about getting my style in a casual way, something more layed back than the recent fitted, taylored trend of Spring and even Winter... I have been picking cottons in pastel colors and whites... here is one of our most recent designs which is perfectly zen for these hot days. (Buddha must have the most serene face features ever!) It works in the city and at the beach, just don't forget to pack it when you go on vacation, it's just a daily go to dress, so easy and still pretty dressy due to the elaborate printing and tie dye features. Anyway, just wanted to check in and let you know what I am up style wise right now.

summer of color 2011

The Summer of 2011 is not exactly a 'Summer Of Love' I'd say. Although hippie style is back on the streets with a vengeance, the peace & love experienced in the original Summer Of Love in 1967 is largely non existing today. Sad, right. But what can you do?

Since I can't speak of another Summer Of Love, I will say, while ignoring everything else imporant going on in the world, the Summer of 2011 is a Summer Of Colorful Nail Polish. Nail salon palettes seam to ever expand by the day. Instead of the usual variety of shades of reds, there are milky greys, dirty muds, sparkly yellows, camouflage greens, soft purples, day glo oranges, electric and midnight indigo blues... wait! Blues??!

Years ago if you would have been seen with blue nails, they would have thought you are about to die. Today in 2011 blue nails are no longer something worth more than a quick "Yeah, I know this is the newest color" nod. No stares and no head turns. Blue is totally cool in 2011.




Nothing to be afraid of. But wait, I missed a point. Not only is this 2011 the Summer Of Crazy Nail Polish, it is also a new Summer Of Color everywhere! Colors and graphics. Nobody is afraid of color or graphics. Not even men. I see the craziest combinations, polka dots and stripes combined... everything goes!

Well of course not everything 'goes', but people seem to be getting better at being confident about what goes.... An abstract painting on a blouse anyone? Monet? Yeah, go right ahead and add the highest platforms with that in a 'non-matching' leopard pattern.

Feathers in your ears? Flowers on your head? Pink, blond and blue hair all at once? Go right ahead!

I always was a colorful individual myself, someone that would not let anyone tell her: "This does not match." But I am suspecting that Lady Gaga has freed a lot more people by now.

Have you ever been in Kuwait? Well I've never been there, but recently, during a web surf, I stumbled over the images of this girl known as A.K.F. who mentiones "Fashion has no religion" -Pravin G. (How true is that??!) I thought her style was great and so inspirational! I'd like to share these cool looks with you my readers and I am anxiously waiting to hear your comments...

a look back to summer 2010

Yes that's right although we still have high temperatures of 90 degrees, we all know that Summer is on it's way out, sooner rather than later... I don't know about you, but I really, sincerely enjoyed Summer 2010! It was warm and beautiful and it smelled so good! The many weekends at the beach, my birthday, swimming, biking, my summer wardrobe... I really loved it, maybe more than ever... I had a clear vision of style and it was easy... I can't think about not being able to wear my eggshell colored converse high top sneakers and my vanilla cotton shirt and it's gonna be hard to store my gradient printed sheer cotton pants and my wide rimmed sun hat... not to mention my red Woodstock Tunic Dress, which I wore over cropped pink tights with my silver Sketcher Tone-Ups (they might actually have caused my knee and ankle to be a bit sore, so don't wear them for extended periods of time, O.K.? They however sure add a nice bit of height for a flip flop!) I'll miss my soft pink shorts (I will look forward to wearing the matching sports blazer though, I never wore it because it was simply too warm) I will try to sneak my wooden bangles past labor day.
I'll be glad to skip sun lotion and mosquito spray, but I will miss my easy breezy summer style! Of course I am also looking ahead to Fall and Winter... I have so many new designs and I guess all I have to do is get into the mood and I am sure that will happen as soon as the temperatures drop... it'll be all good... but for now, I'll still enjoy to the fullest every day over 70 degrees and up!

Now maybe you have just like me been on the lookout for the perfect summer dress..?? Something for when I am not in the mood for the trendy shorts... Ummmh,.... I found it!
